Booking and Ticketing Terms

A booking becomes final only when the carrier has issued the ticket, and the flight itself runs on that carrier's own conditions of carriage.

The two roles

The desk acts as your ticket agent, placing reservations with carriers on your instruction. Carrying you is the carrier's role, and the carrier alone performs it.

When a booking is final

A booking is final once the carrier has issued an electronic ticket and the ticket number has reached you from the desk. Until then a reservation can be dropped automatically by the carrier and the fare attached to it is not fixed.

Conditions of carriage

Your flight is governed by the carrier's conditions of carriage, sometimes called its contract of carriage, together with the fare conditions on the ticket. These apply alongside these terms and cover check-in deadlines, baggage, denied boarding, delay and liability. Each carrier publishes them on its own website.

Read the ticket on arrival

When the ticket reaches you, check the names, dates, times, airports and cabin against what you approved, and report any discrepancy at once. Once the journey has begun, an error may no longer be correctable at all.

Fly the sectors in order

Carriers generally expect the sectors on one ticket to be flown in the order they are issued. Skip a sector and the carrier may cancel everything that follows it on the same ticket.

When the carrier retimes the schedule

Carriers retime and cancel flights. Where that affects a record held here and the desk is notified, your options are reported to you, a refund the federal rules require among them. Checking flight status with the carrier before leaving for the airport remains worthwhile regardless.

Check-in and boarding

Check-in, any seat assigned at the airport and boarding are handled by the carrier. Allow time for the security checkpoint and meet the carrier's stated deadlines; missing one can forfeit the seat without a refund.
