Refund and Cancellation Policy

Cancel yourself and the fare conditions decide what returns. If the carrier cancels or significantly changes the flight, the federal rules may require a refund, and where they do, you receive it.

Which records this covers

Everything here concerns a flight booked through the CCV Enterprises desk. A ticket bought from a carrier or from a different agency is canceled and refunded by that seller, which holds the record.

A cancellation you choose

Every ticket carries fare conditions written by the carrier. Those conditions state whether a ticket you cancel pays out in money, in travel credit or in nothing at all, and what the carrier retains. The desk has no power to rewrite them and cannot return more than the carrier releases.

The 24-hour reservation requirement

U.S. Department of Transportation rules require a US carrier, and a foreign carrier on a flight to or from the United States, either to hold a reservation at the quoted fare for 24 hours without payment or to allow a ticket to be canceled without penalty within 24 hours of purchase, where the booking is made at least seven days before departure. Carriers implement this differently, and whether the protection reaches a ticket issued through an agency depends on the carrier's own implementation. The quote states which applies to the fare you are being offered, and the desk will file a cancellation inside that window on your written instruction.

A cancellation or significant change by the carrier

Under the same federal rules, where a carrier cancels your flight or makes a significant change to it and you decline the alternative offered, you are generally entitled to a refund to the original form of payment, covering the unused portion of the ticket. Where the federal rules require a refund, you receive it. Report the carrier's notice to the desk as soon as it arrives and the claim is filed on a record held here.

Filing a cancellation

Send the booking reference, the travelers withdrawing and the flights concerned. The fare conditions are read and an estimate returns: what should come back, what the carrier retains, and any desk fee. The cancellation goes in once your written approval is on the file, and in most cases a canceled ticket cannot afterward be revived.

What may be deducted

  • A carrier cancellation charge, where the fare conditions permit one on a cancellation you chose.
  • Any part of the fare the carrier treats as non-returnable.
  • The desk fee for filing the cancellation, where it applies and where the quote showed it.

Whether any part of the original booking fee returns on cancellation is stated in your quote before you pay. An amount the federal rules require to be refunded is not reduced by any of these deductions.

Not traveling without canceling

Miss a flight without filing a cancellation first and the carrier may record a no-show. On a great many fares that forfeits everything except certain taxes, and the carrier may also strip the later sectors from the same ticket.

How a refund returns

Money returns to the card or account that paid. The pace is set by the carrier and the payment networks, so the expected timing is stated at the moment the claim is filed, then reported again when the carrier confirms it and when it is released.

If the figure looks wrong

Send the booking reference and the figure you were expecting. The arithmetic will be walked through with you line by line and, where there is a case, put back to the carrier. The Complaints Handling Policy takes over if that does not settle it.
