Package Inclusions Policy

The rule

If it is not on the inclusions list, it is not in the price. Every package on this website carries both lists — what the figure contains and what it does not — and the exclusions list is written to be read, not to be hidden. Where we have a choice between a vaguer phrase and a blunter one, we use the blunter one.

What a package price normally contains

Accommodation for the nights stated, at the standard described, on the board basis stated. Transfers between airports, stations and accommodation where the itinerary says so. A car and driver for the full-day excursions named in the itinerary. Entrance tickets and boat or activity tickets that the itinerary names explicitly. An itinerary document with addresses, references and contact numbers. A named agent you can reach while you are travelling.

What it does not contain unless it says so

Flights are not included in any package on this website unless an inclusions list says otherwise in terms. Nor are visa fees, arrival levies, travel insurance, meals outside the stated board basis, anything charged to your room, tips, a villa security deposit, or any excursion not named in the itinerary. Personal expenses and anything arranged locally on your own account are outside the price.

Travel days are part of the itinerary

A day spent getting from one place to another is written into the itinerary as a travel day and nothing else. It is counted in the nights and the days, and it is not dressed up as sightseeing. A package that moves you between countries will contain at least one such day, and treating it as a spare day is how people arrive exhausted.

Changes to a published itinerary

No package here is a fixed departure. Each is a shape we rework around your dates, your party and your budget, and the inclusions change with it — your quotation, not this website, is the authoritative list for your trip.

After confirmation, an itinerary may still have to change for reasons outside our control: a road closed, a monsoon, a property that cannot honour a booking, a government restriction. Where that happens we arrange the nearest equivalent and tell you what changed and what it costs or saves. A change you ask for is handled under the Amendment Policy.

Indicative prices and what moves them

A price marked indicative is the lowest we have recently been able to arrange that shape of trip for, on the basis printed beside it, and it is not a quotation. Party size, room configuration, the season, and local holidays all move it, sometimes sharply. We would rather quote you a real figure for your dates than defend a headline one.
